Knot is a platform that weaves together a diverse network of Asian businesses, connecting them like threads in a single, strong knot. I created Knot to spotlight NYC’s hidden gem Asian restaurants, celebrating authentic flavors and supporting local entrepreneurs. The website, built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, helps connect customers with restaurants across all five boroughs. With features like search and filtering, users can easily explore curated restaurant lists. Knot also helps business owners grow by connecting them with more customers and showcasing their unique stories.
Reflection
Working on Knot pushed me to think beyond just building a functional website and focus on impact. I wanted the project to feel personal and intentional, not just like another restaurant listing platform. Highlighting hidden gem Asian restaurants in NYC made me more aware of how much effort goes into small businesses that often don’t get the visibility they deserve. From a technical standpoint, building Knot with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript strengthened my front-end skills, especially around layout, responsiveness, and creating intuitive search and filter features. I learned how small design choices can shape how users explore and discover content. More importantly, this project taught me how technology can be used to tell stories and uplift communities, not just solve technical problems. Knot reinforced my interest in building human-centered projects that connect people and support local culture.
