Egg Hatchery is a software booking site built for The Hatchery at Boston College. The goal of the project was to make it easier for students to reserve equipment and resources in the makerspace without confusion or back-and-forth. We designed the site around real student needs, focusing on clarity, accessibility, and simplicity so that booking tools feels quick and stress-free. The platform supports smoother day-to-day operations at The Hatchery while helping students spend less time navigating logistics and more time actually building.
Reflection
Working on Egg Hatchery showed me how much impact small design decisions can have on real people. What seemed like a simple booking system quickly became a problem of communication, trust, and ease of use. Through testing and iteration, I learned how important it is to listen to users and adjust designs based on how they actually behave, not how we expect them to. This project pushed me to think more intentionally about usability and reminded me that good software should quietly support people instead of getting in their way.
